Thailand visa-free rules from 15 September 2026
Thailand replaced its 60-day visa exemption with a tiered scheme. Most tourists now get 30 days.
The new tiers
| Tier | Who | Stay |
|---|---|---|
| 30-day exemption | Nationals of about 60 countries and territories (final Royal Gazette list) | 30 days, tourism only |
| 15-day exemption | Seychelles, Mauritius | 15 days |
| Bilateral agreements | Varies by agreement | 14, 30 or 90 days |
| Visa on arrival | Azerbaijan, Belarus, Serbia and others | Fee 2,000 THB, designated checkpoints |
Details
- Entry under the exemption is for tourism. Business or work travellers are assessed case by case and may need a visa.
- A one-time extension of up to 30 days can be requested at a local immigration office at the officer's discretion.
- Travellers admitted before 15 September 2026 keep the stay granted on entry.
- The Royal Gazette notices were published on 31 August 2026.
Country counts differ between sources (59 vs 60). Check the Thai immigration or embassy list for your nationality.
